September is Suicide Prevention Month

Disclaimer: This post mentions suicide

For most people suicide is a difficult and uncomfortable thing to have a discussion about. We get nervous, tighten up, and avoid talking about in fear of creating an awkward conversation.

According to the World Health Organization, every 40 seconds someone around the world dies by suicide. This is a problem that must be fixed.

As a society, we need to make an effort to open a dialogue about suicide prevention. Saying “things will get better” is NOT ENOUGH. We must educate ourselves and others about tools, resources, and options to help create a better understand that the world is truly a better place with everyone in it.

I encourage you to join me in helping create an open dialogue about suicide prevention and together we can make a difference and save lives.
